Update - Non-credible contingency event - NSW region - 17/05/2026

Refer AEMO Electricity Market Notices 144112 and 144117

At 2317 hrs 17/5/2026 , Upper Tumut Units 1, 2, 3 and 4 simultaneously tripped from service.

Based on further information, the cause of this non-credible contingency has not been identified and remains under investigation. 
AEMO is not satisfied that this non credible event is unlikely to re-occur.
AEMO has therefore reclassified this event as a credible contingency event until further notice.
